Age of Empires III DE: Peninsula

Summary

A map proposal set in a Caribbean-style environment, playable in solo or multiplayer skirmish mode. 2 to 6 players.

This map provides a strategic approach strongly focused on the maritime superiority of the present combatants. Each player starts on a peninsula occupying approximately one-sixth of the possible land territory.

The players are enclosed in a territory almost surrounded by reefs and rocks in the open sea.

Map Design Description

1.
All players start on a large peninsula. The most abundant resource is wood, as vast lush forests are present there. However, these forests are not infinite.

Considering that warships require significant amounts of wood for construction, players will need to engage in trade or conquer other peninsulas to satisfy their conquest and meet the demand.

Natural sources of food or gold are relatively scarce. Farms and plantations will be necessary, once again requiring wood for constructing such infrastructure.

Nevertheless, the surrounding seas are rich in fish and whales, meeting the players' needs. However, fishing boats are fragile and vulnerable to enemy warships.

All peninsulas are surrounded by reefs and rocks, creating natural barriers that prevent large warships from maneuvering through them. Within these natural labyrinths lie numerous treasures and occasionally an indigenous village on a tiny island. Allowing players to make some alliances.

The openings at the ends of the reef rows converge into a central sea and lead to bays that serve as entry points to the peninsulas.

Design Intentions

A.
The main strategy involves organizing landings on enemy peninsulas. Although simple to understand, the strategy can be quite challenging to execute. A player can decide to orchestrate a blitz on the tip of the peninsula or exercise patience and skirt along the reefs to attempt an invasion on one of the sides of the peninsula. Perhaps certain allied indigenous nations have access to smaller boats that can maneuver through the reefs?

One thing is certain, battles of various scales are likely to rage across the bays and the central sea.
